Dear New Patient,

Welcome to Northwestern Center for Orthopedics!

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself and my experience in healthcare. I am originally from New York, and I earned my medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Following graduation, I completed my internship at New England Deaconess Hospital. For the next four years, I continued advanced training in my chosen specialty, orthopedic surgery, as part of my residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell University in New York. In addition, I pursued subspecialty training, or a fellowship, in knee surgery at Cornell University, as well as at the prestigious North American Traveling Fellowship sponsored by the American Orthopaedic Association.

My practice is focused on general orthopedics, total knee and hip replacement surgery, and sports medicine. It brings me great pleasure to apply state-of-the art, proven procedures to restore mobility and help patients return to an active lifestyle. I strive to provide you as much information as possible to ensure that you make an informed decision on your treatment options. I have been in practice at Northwestern since 1990, and I joined the practice now know as Northwestern Center for Orthopedics in 1995. My mission is to provide you the same excellent service and care that I would offer to a member of my family.

I enjoy teaching as an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School. Besides extensive research on knee conditions, I have lectured widely both in the Unites States and abroad. In addition to my extensive medical commitments, I enjoy a variety of interests including running and spending time with my family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further improve your experience at Northwestern Center for Orthopedics. My goal is to provide you the best medical care available.

I am looking forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,

Steven H. Stern, M.D.

    From Dr. Stern

I do realize that the extra time we require before your office visit might be a little inconvenient; however, it ensures that we have your correct information to help us better manage your care.

Additionally, I apologize in advance in case you have to wait to see me. In some cases, patients require special attention or I may have calls to the hospital to manage surgical patients' care. Under such circumstances, the staff of Northwestern Center for Orthopedics and I will do our best to see you as soon as possible and make sure you receive individualized attention.
