Welcome to Northwestern Center for Orthopedics! I am originally from Sterling Heights, Michigan. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned my medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. My practice is focused on the treatment of disorders of the hand and upper extremity in children and adults. My specialty interest includes surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. I have a particular interest in arthroscopy, fracture care, overuse syndromes, carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis disorders. My area of expertise also includes treatment of athletic injuries to the hand and upper extremity. It brings me great pleasure to apply state-of-the-art proven procedures to improve function, alleviate pain and restore an active lifestyle. It is my mission to be your premiere provider, educator, and advocate in the prevention and treatment of upper extremity disorders. When not practicing medicine, I am an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy running, fishing, skiing, kayaking and hiking in the outdoors with my family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further improve your experience at Northwestern Center for Orthopedics. My goal is to provide you the best medical care available. I am looking forward to meeting with you. Sincerely, Richard L. Makowiec, M.D.
From Dr. MakowiecI do realize that the extra time we require before your office visit might be a little inconvenient; however, it ensures that we have your correct information to help us better manage your care. Additionally, I apologize in advance in case you have to wait to see me. In some cases, patients require special attention or I may have calls to the hospital to manage surgical patients' care. Under such circumstances, the staff of Northwestern Center for Orthopedics and I will do our best to see you as soon as possible and make sure you receive individualized attention. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
