Dear New Patient,

Welcome to Northwestern Center for Orthopedics!

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself and my experience in healthcare. I am originally from Decatur, Illinois, and I earned my medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. I continued my post-graduate General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Northwestern University Medial School. In addition, I pursued subspecialty training, or a fellowship, in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Royal Children's Hospital/Melbourne University in Melbourne, Australia.

As an orthopedic surgeon, my medical interests range from sports-related injuries to trauma and arthritis. Our practice is designed where I perform the majority of the trauma surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where I have been an active member of the Trauma Quality Assessment Committee. As a clinician, I strive to individualize each case and then provide you as much information as possible to ensure that you make an informed decision on your treatment options. I joined the practice now known as Northwestern Center for Orthopedics in 1989, and since then it has been my mission to provide you the same excellent service and care that I would offer to a member of my family.

I enjoy serving as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School, where I oversee the orthopedic curriculum and education of the medical students. As an outdoor enthusiast, I enjoy a wide range of activities like sailing, skiing and fishing, and spending time with my family.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further improve your experience at Northwestern Center for Orthopedics. My goal is to provide you the best medical care available.

I am looking forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,

Scott Dale Cordes, M.D.

    From Dr. Cordes

I do realize that the extra time we require before your office visit might be a little inconvenient; however, it ensures that we have your correct information to help us better manage your care.

Additionally, I apologize in advance in case you have to wait to see me. In some cases, patients require special attention or I may have calls to the hospital to manage surgical patients' care. Under such circumstances, the staff of Northwestern Center for Orthopedics and I will do our best to see you as soon as possible and make sure you receive individualized attention.
